Vehicle Tracking & Swept Path Assessment

Swept Path Analysis (also known as vehicle tracking) is an important tool which allows layout proposals to be assessed against the manoeuvrability of specific vehicles and the surrounding environment. FTP perform swept path assessments to ensure that the design of an internal site layout or junction arrangement is suitable for the needs of the development.

Swept Path Analysis is specific to each project but typically includes an assessment of the turning radius of the largest vehicles requiring access to the site; the vehicle clearance between obstacles such as kerbs, buildings or pedestrian / cycle zones; and vehicle clearance to the public highway. This analysis will generally accompany all preliminary highway / junction designs and Transport Statements / Assessments. It allows us to ensure that the development proposals provide safe and suitable layouts compliant with local and national design standards.
